30K to Build a Sweet Home - (Episo 1 Kitchen)

We only budget 30K to do renovation for whole house, on the other hand we only have 30K to play around, because of budget constraints we cannot affordable to appoint designer so we do our own design and all the coordinate work, but of course we must get the idea from expect. ( designer house)

We bring our floor plan to Expo . (should have home fair Expo every week) 20-40 designer company will participated, we choose 10 to visit get some brochure from designer house and get some idea from them. I have selected some design which I think is like it and told another designer to seek their opinion.

below picture is Kitchen before renovation, this is 16 years old HDB and the design was outdated, we want to change it to modem simple design.

If you refer floor plan above you will clearly see there is square area for refrigerator, that mean we only can buy the small refrigerator and we don't really like this design and we box up the area with tall unit and shorter bottom of the L shape kitchen cabinet in order can move out the refrigerator.  top cabinet we only build row without L shape, it look more tidy with this way. after we confirm our design we draw a simple 3 D drawing to let the carpentry know our design . finally you may look more quotation, actually I get the quotation from 3 company for comparison, best quote come with three so I requested 3 quotation for 3 difference carpenter one from Singapore ( internet) , one from Malaysia. another one, I only get 2 quotation from Singapore contractor, and 3 quotation from interior design. because need permit for HDB renovation , and must select HDB approval contractor when u received all quotation you might found difficult to compare the price so, we divert with difference potion and compare price one by one, you may found they is no best quote and some will have makeup higher at kitchen and some will be toilet , please also check the review from internet at least you get some idea from there.

 

 

 

 

once the design confirm need to proceed with next step, select the laminate, we view almost all formica and formica material sample book that able to find at Singapore ( 10 over around), finally we choose this .    

 

you also need to decide where you want to put your plug and  all the electricity have put in loose this will help the carpenter easy to conceal the wire into/behind the kitchen cabinet.

 

We need to purchase the Basin/water tap/Hood & Hob yourself and the basin/hood and hob must deliver to carpenter factory, to ensure the size are correct . the carpenter need all the information to proceed else they can't start their work.

 

we brought water tap and basin from Malaysia, too bad after we brought we discover other shop which you can buy at Singapore and collect goods from Singapore warehouse, and the design was so nice, some good design tap you only can buy at Singapore, but this shop is a Singapore company, and the design are new but you get Malaysia price, hence I brought all my toilet tap and accessory from that shop.

 

Basin = RM 450 (1mm stand less steel) , water tap: RM 120 

 

further more, if you choose basin mould under solid surface you must buy thicker stand less steel, because you cannot change basin if the basin rusty. if you choose top mould you can change the basin but I feel the design not so nice.

 we decide to buy ceramic cooker ( E.G.O. highlight technology) , at the same time SenZ have promotion for SZ-RC220 ( RM 2099 with whole set of standard steel cooking wave, I think is a good deal so I brought it, it you bargain with the shop there still able to give you extra RM 100 discount. too bad I didn't get it, I went to the next shop there only quoted RM 1999.

 

the second thing you must be caution is this using 15Kw, so the plug not standard, if you are old type of HDB then u must change the electricity, and please also do the 2 way switch, is convenience while doing cooking.

 

switch to control the electric cook ware,  2 way switch was good in this, inside have safety fuel, while you cooking u just need to open this, no need to open carbine to turn on the cooker. you can see the cooker are whole pieces of Scott Ceran, this is more easy to clean.

 

This is the box up unit, the previous owner used for refrigerator, we prefer the medium size of refrigerator hence I change the design.
